Synopsis:
Storytime at a local library is disrupted by the arrival of a Hare (from Aesop's fable of the Tortoise and the Hare) and her Lawyer out to save her name after centuries of slander. The Hare claims that she didn't lose the race, as Aesop claims, and, under the advisement of her lawyer, the Hare reenacts what really happened. The Completely Untrue Story Of How I Lost The Race Or A Litigated Version of Aesop's Fables is a satirical romp through Aesop's fables where nothing is off limits and everything is litigated.

Details

For three weeks, campers will work with Walden Theatre instructors on a production of the original play, The Completely Untrue Story Of How I Lost The Race Or A Litigated Version Of Aesop’s Fables by Hank Willenbrink. Students will have the exciting experience of rehearsing and performing a play, complete with sets, props and costumes.

Novice and experienced young actors will work together, learning to use their voices and bodies as tools of communication, and experiencing the thrill of performing for a live audience. Each student has a speaking part and receives individual attention and direction.

On the final weekend, the play is presented to the public. The Summer Academy is a place where students receive a strong foundation in theatre arts, develop concentration, self reliance and cooperation, and have fun with new friends.
